Need something to pray about?

Our faith plays a big role in living a truly beautiful life.  And today, I had a faith encounter I wanted to share.

While I was working out today, I was watching the news.  Frustration, anger, fear, despair, outrage….all those negative emotions welled up in my heart.  Thankfully my workout acted as a counteractive agent to squash the negative.  I began to think about what I could do to help the world.  So many bad things, yet so many possibilities still to discover, so much to be thankful for.  What could I do…ultimately nothing.  Except pray.woman praying 2 Need something to pray about?

While I may feel stronger as I exercise, I’m only as strong as my faith in my Savior.  And my Savior, Jesus Christ is aware of the News and he knows what will happen before it’s even reported to us.  So the only thing I can do is PRAY.  Need something to pray for today?

Well here’s my list:

Pray for our impending “fiscal armageddon”, pray for the people who may be affected in the coming days, weeks, months. Pray that lawmakers will get along and figure out the money and just STOP SPENDING.  Pray for the rocket that took off from Cape Canaveral today taking supplies to the International Space Station.  Pray for the people living in space up there, those we’ve forgotten or didn’t even know about.  Pray for the man who is lost in a Florida sinkhole, and for his brother who couldn’t save him.  Pray for the people in Southern California affected by blazing wildfires today, and for the firecrews working to stop it.  Pray for our defense departments and politicians to be proactive in North Korea and Iran’s nuclear interests against our country.  Pray for our nation’s borders and American people around the globe to be protected.  Pray for those defending our country with their very lives every day.female prayer Need something to pray about?

Pray for your families, pray for your neighbors, your community.  Let’s stop worrying about our own dilemmas for just a moment, step outside our zones, and pray for each other.  Don’t like my list, need something to pray for, turn on any news station and in just 5 mins you’ll find plenty.

Turns out that praying will make a 30 min workout go by very quickly. Bonus!

…where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.  (Matthew 18:19-21)

Day 29 – And I’m Still Loving My Lashes

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.  For me, it takes 2 sets of 21 days for me to realize something has the possibility of becoming a habit.

30 days is almost here and I’ve learned so much in a short span of time all while I tested and reviewed a fantastic product I’m proud to peddle to you via the digital waves.lashes day 29 300x225 Day 29 And Im Still Loving My Lashes

Lash and Brow Serum….

I’ve seen improvement in the softness of my lashes, fullness and they appear to be longer.  I’m pleased. When adding Lash Primer and Ultimate Mascara to my softer lashes, the changes are accentuation.  I hope you’ll give this wonderful serum a shot.

Thanks for sticking with me even through the technical difficulties.  I’ll be bringing some updates on what’s transpired and what I’ve learned over the last 30 days.

Blessings and God thinks you’re beautiful inside and out – so do I.

I don’t know what day it is on the 30 Day Lash challenge…but I’m still workin’ it!

Even though I haven’t posted for a while, I haven’t stopped using the Lash and Brow Serum.  I’m still cleansing, moisturizing, removing eye makeup gently and then applying the serum.  It’s a part of my routine which I’ve gotten used to.  The serum is refreshingly cool too the skin and accompanies the Soothing Eye Gel which I use at the end of a really rough day.  A little stress relief for me.

blue eyes 2 300x225 I dont know what day it is on the 30 Day Lash challenge...but Im still workin it!The question you’re probably asking is “have your lashes grown, do you see a difference.” The answer to that question is yes.  I believe they have.  They appear longer to me, and fuller.  When I wear mascara, I can tell they’re fuller and not sparse and spread out.  Do I have Lady GaGa voluptious eye lashes emerging from my lids?  No.  Do I see improvement and a change for the better?  Yes.   I see softer, fuller and longer lashes.  And I believe there are still a few days left in my 30 Day Challenge, so it’s not over yet.

Where have I been and what have I been up to, you may ask?  Well, I’ve been updating and styling my blog so that it’s a better blog I hope.  It’s still a work in progress.  I’ve been spending more time with my son, who at 6yrs old has been itching for more Mamma time and I’ve given it to him.  I’ve been spending more time with my Dad, caring for him and doing research to find the best benefits for him and our homebound caregiving situation.  I’ll be working on a few posts that deal with the research I’ve found so far.  For those in the Sandwich Generation, you may really appreciate what I’ve stumbled upon.

And most importantly, I’ve been catching up on me.  Sometimes you need to catch a cat nap here or there, take time out to prepare a healthy meal for the family rather than order on the run, and even make time to exercise.  Everything is better when you exercise.  In this whole process of revamping my blog and revamping ME, I’ve lost 5 pounds.  Whoo Hoo.  Yeah me.  More to come on that too.Exercise 300x273 I dont know what day it is on the 30 Day Lash challenge...but Im still workin it!

So for now dear friends, I bid you Good Sleep and Good Morrow.  God willing, I will live to blog another day.  Blessings!

Day 12: Lash & Brow Challenge: Not Losing Lashes & A Bride’s Transformation

Day 12:  My lashes are looking great.  I’ve noticed that my lashes aren’t falling out as easy as before.  When I use oil-free eye makeup remover to wash the makeup off, I’m not losing lashes. That’s a big improvement for me.  Have you ever experienced lash loss when casually rubbing your eyes?  I used to, but not today.

I used an old eye color – Denim Frost, an oldie but a goodie, on the lid,  Day 12: Lash & Brow Challenge: Not Losing Lashes & A Bride’s TransformationSienna at the brow line to the crease,  simple mascara and I created a great look that complimented my dark blue sweater.  I love when colors come together.

I read that a big concern with many of the lash building products on the market today is discoloration of the eyelid, and even the under- eye area.  I’m keeping watch for that symptom to occur.  So far, I haven’t noticed any changes in skin discoloration.  No more darkness than usually visible on my skin.  I’ll keep you posted.

Brides: For those who are taking the big PLUNGE this year, planning your color look and having impeccable skin for the big day are a must.  I worked rings rose Day 12: Lash & Brow Challenge: Not Losing Lashes & A Bride’s Transformationwith a “bride-to-be” today and it was so much fun.  I love the transformation of a great facial.  We picked a neutral/brown dramatic bridal look.  With Precious Pink, Silky Caramel, and Espresso eye colors.  We used Sunny Spice for her cheek colors and Sweet Nectar for her lips.  A touch of Beached Bronze lip gloss to finish the look.  She Looked BEAUTIFUL!!!

Lashes for the Big Day:  There’s no better time to build fuller, softer, amazing lashes, but while preparing for a wedding day.  In 30 days see amazing results and have beautiful natural looking lashes that will be dramatically gorgeous.  And you thought it was all about the dress….  I’d love for you to join me on this Lash Journey.

Days 7-11: A busy life with fuller lashes…

WOW, life got really incredibly busy here.  Dad came home from the hospital and that re-started my new, yet oldish, routine again.  My son had been sick for 3 days and went back to school the same day Grandpa came home.  Then there was the Art of Marriage conference at church Friday and Saturday.  Busy – to say the least.

My dad is doing better, but yet needs a lot of help to do everyday things we take for granted.  He doesn’t walk anymore and he misses his bride of 62 years.  For a 90 yr old man, he’s as sharp as a tack.  He loves westerns, football, and General Hospital, and wishes I served him sweet potatoes every night.  I tell him that if the brain’s still working and the heart is still beating, then God’s still got a plan for you.  He’s not done with you yet.  Do you have a loved one that may be ill and you care for?

And my sweet Jayden, 6 years old, has been sick every other week with some type of bug, flu or otherwise since about mid October.  We home-schooled for parts of preschool and kindergarten years and wanted to continue, however life at home was difficult with a few deaths in the family and my dad’s illnesses.  We made a painful decision to go to school.  We may home-school again….

For months we anticipated a two day marriage conference, at our church, art of marriage1 Days 7 11: A busy life with fuller lashes...from Family Life called “The Art of Marriage”.  It was INCREDIBLE.  Whether your marriage is troubled or it’s good, I recommend taking time to invest in a conference like this.  I learned a few revelations this weekend.

  1. I realized that other people deal with the same things we deal with – we’re not crazy people after all!
  2. I realized that if I’m asking God to fix my husband, I better be asking him to fix me too.
  3. I am someone’s ancestor and I wonder what I’m leaving behind for them now.

MY LASHES – With all the events, and new routines, I still found time at the end of the day to take care of my face.  Cleansing, moisturizing, and adding the lash serum.  I think I’m starting to see a difference.  I used ultimate Days 7 11: A busy life with fuller lashes...mascara and thought that my lashes appeared to be fuller and longer than normal.  I was so excited.  Can’t wait to see what will happen to the lashes day Day 30.

And if your life is crazy busy as mine tends to be, I encourage you to do a couple things.  First, hug your special someone and tell them how much you love them.  And second, join me on the Lash & Brow Challenge.  Try the Lash Serum with me for next 30 days and see how it changes your lashes.  In fact, when you go to my website, www.marykay.com/aadams2042 , order a Lash & Brow Serum and in your order or an email to me, mention the SaltyGlamGirl and I’ll take $5 off your purchase.  Shipping is free in the US.

Thanks for keeping up with the Lash Challenge and this SaltyGlamGirl.  Go hug your honey if you haven’t yet today. Right now. Go!

Days 5 & 6 Lash & Brow Challenge – Lashes of Opportunities…

Day 5 & 6 have come and gone for my Lash & Brow Challenge.  Still applying the serum each night.  Still no sensitivities.  I feel my lashes loosing their brittleness and actually becoming softer each day.  Have you joined the Lash Challenge yet?

Even though I’m purposefully making time to care for my lashes, my little guy has developed yet another flu bug since the weekend.  Fevers and coughs – no fun.  Have you had the flu bug visit you this year, more than once?  Caring for my little guy adds to the game plan for the day, and I’m thankful that I have a business opportunity that allows me to be at home.

Sold some foundation to a customer who called me up today for a re-order while I was waiting for my son’s prescription.  And my company even has an app for my iPhone so I can send the order from where ever I am immediately for my customer.  Made extra money while taking care of my family. Day 4: Lash & Brow Challenge – Love your lashes – YES – but be a voice with a greater message.

Day 4 – and my lashes are doing fine.  I like the serum, it’s very soft and I recommend trying it to even the most sensitive eyes.  And while I’m continuing my regimen of the 30 Day Lash & Brow Challenge, I was made aware by the amazing Sandi Krakowski  -  www.arealchange.com/blog -  of something I never would have imagined.  These types of things only happen in other countries, not America, not my country…

While we sip on our beverages, munch on our superbowl snacks, root for favorite football team, laugh and shake our heads at the commercials, and complain about the half time entertainment, human trafficking is happening in the shadows of the stadium. The Superbowl is not only a sports entertainment event, it’s the largest human trafficking incident on American soil.

Its estimated that 27 million men, women, and children are held against their will and working in the shadows as slaves – in every sense of the word – in 161 countries.  America included.  It’s happeneing on our turf.  Yet, We the People, remain silent and do very little to stop this tragic and deplorable crime against humanity.  It’s time to have a Voice.  It’s time to take a stand.

Enjoy the game, but know there’s more going on behind what we see on TV. Pray for the trafficking at this event to be thwarted and for people involved in trafficking schemes to be revealed and stopped.  Tell everyone you know.  Learn all you can.  It’s time to wake up and be aware.  www.thea21campaign.org Day 4: Lash & Brow Challenge Love your lashes YES but be a voice with a greater message.

Day 3 – Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin’ My Glam On!

Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!
The serum and I are getting along famously.  No reactions to my sensitivity-prone eyes and my lashes actually feel less brittle than a few days ago.  I’ve noticed as I get older, even though I use Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover to gently remove makeup, my lashes tend to get brittle; especially when colder weather blows in.  They feel softer today, just like my skin does after cleansing and moisturizing.  How does your skin feel this winter?

Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!

Along with my 30 day lash challenge, I had another challenge to overcome today.  It was the “how to keep my 6 year old entertained on a frigid and snowy day in the Midwest challenge”.  What I discovered at the end of the day might surprise you, but then again maybe not.

My son asked to go out and play in the snow.  When I replied “no”, he immediately asked “why not?”  To which I replied because “it’s 12 degrees outside”.  Those aren’t just pretty snowflakes floating around, it’s cold out there.  Brrrrrrrrrrrr.  We’re stayin’ in kid.

Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!After grumblings subsided, and laundry, dishes and house chores finished (with aforementioned grumbling kid’s assistance of course), it was time to have some fun.  Jayden made a “market” out of ordinary things that he liked.  Each item had a plate.  He was selling Dixie cups of water, bananas, cookies, graham crackers, and crayons.  He labeled the cost of each item and handed me a bucket of Legos and said “here mom, the Legos are your money to go shopping.”  The sales and management skills don’t fall from the ole’ tree.  He said I’m the manager just like daddy.  Now if that doesn’t make you feel beautiful inside….what will?

Then we agreed to play a board game and he insisted we play Monopoly.   Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!Even though he doesn’t know how to count change in the hundreds, he still loves to buy and sell and trade.  A little marketer in the making.  Then it was time for dinner – homemade pizza!  While helping sprinkle mozzarella on top, he had to sneak a few handfuls for himself.  Then a movie, popcorn, bath time and bed.   It was a great stay inside, warm and toasty, snowy Saturday.  And when we said our Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!prayers and went to bed, I  looked back on the events of the day and thought, how awesome is it all?  I am truly blessed.  A beautiful day.

While I’m sharing precious moments like these with my son, I’m not only building memories.  While we’re doing life, I’m still “gettin’ my glam on!”  The serum is still working on my lashes.  My cleanser, moisturizer, and day solution are still working on my skin.  While I sleep night solution and eye firming cream are fighting back time.  I drink my eight glasses of water and take my vitamins.  I do things in a few stolen moments each day and they work continuously to keep me healthy and beautiful.  All the while I’m living a truly beautiful life with my family, friends, and the ones I love.  True beauty at its finest.

What did you do on this amazing Saturday? Was it cold and snowy where you are?  Are you taking time to care for you?  What’s your skin care regimen look like?  Share with me and join me on the 30 day Lash & Brow Challenge.  It’s whole lot more than lashes…it’s about the beauty of life.  Would love to share it with you.  Check out my website  www.marykay.com/aadams2042, pick up your lash and brow serum and join me on this challenge.

Happy Weekend friends!  Get your glam on! Day 3 Lash & Brow Challenge: Making Time for Family and Still Gettin My Glam On!

Day 2 – Lash & Brow Challenge: Caring for the Caregiver…Don’t Forget to Pamper You!

Day 2 of applying lash and brow serum to my lashes.  Again – no sensitivity. Not much noticeable change at this point.  I’m super excited for what these few stolen moments over the next 30 days will bring to my lashes. Wondering how many of you could use 4 or 5 seconds of self-love each night?   A little bit of pampering to feel good and awake the beauty inside?  I’m calling this a Lash & Brow Challenge, but let’s call it what it really is – Purposeful Pampering!

This week, my dad, whom I’m usually caring for 24/7, is in the hospital –doing good, should be home in a few days, but that’s made a huge shift in my routine – running to the hospital every day and constant contact with nurses and doctors. Then there’s my little 1st grader who gets all my attention after school, my sweet husband – we just celebrated the 8 year marker this week, and my beauty biz, a Bridal Fair, and the list could go on.  You know as well as I, a wife, mom, caregiver, business owner, blogger’s job is never done.  The inbox is never empty, always overflowing…and what a blessing that truly is if you stop to think about it.

Despite our thankfulness, we mommas can get a little worn out, run down, and overwhelmed when we don’t take a few moments for ourselves from time to time.  And if momma ain’t happy – ain’t nobody gonna be happy, or so my husband says…

So what’s a few moments of pampering worth to you?  A cleansed face, makeup-removed eyes, and then a little bit of lash serum to complete the love.  You can’t help but feel good about YOU when you take care of yourself; and the beauty within begins to shine from the inside out.  It’s a gorgeous thing.

So here’s what my eyes look like Day 2, you be the judge.  Tell me what you think.  Hope you’ll join me on the Lash & Brow Challenge, doesn’t matter what day you’re on, let’s do this thing together….see ya tomorrow.
